US State Department approved a possible FMS to India of MK 54 MOD 0 Lightweight Torpedoes and related equipment for an estimated cost of $175 million. The State Department approved a possible foreign military sale to India of MK 54 MOD 0 Lightweight Torpedoes and related equipment for an estimated cost of $175 million. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) delivered the required certification today, notifying Congress of this possible sale.
India has requested to buy 53 MK 54 MOD 0 Lightweight Torpedo all up rounds. The estimated total cost is $175 million. The torpedoes will be used deployed at MH-60R helicopters for anti-submarine missions. Most of the torpedoes hardware will be purchased directly from U.S. Navy stock.
