Malaysian Minister of Defence Khaled Nordin shared that a meeting with Turkish counterparts covered ToT and industrial cooperation on ANKA Armed UAV.

The Malaysian Minister shared the development on his X account. Secretary of Turkish Defence Industries Haluk Görgün and TUSAŞ CEO Mehmet Demiroğlu were present at the meeting.

Malaysia has chosen its new MALE Armed UAV with TUSAŞ's ANKA-S during LIMA 2023. ANKA-S competed with its U.S.-made and Chinese counterparts. In the first phase, the RMAF will receive three ANKA-S in the latest configuration, which will improve flight efficiency (Increased endurance to 30 hours) and payload capacity of 350 kg. ANKA-S can be fitted with a variety of sensors and weapons. The payloads began with MAM-L munition and SARPER SAR, but newer munitions like MAM-T and MİLSAR SAR have been added in time.

TurDef has also learned that the LGK-81 laser-guided bomb's integration had been ongoing during TEKNOFEST İzmir. Malaysia will primarily utilise its upcoming ANKA-S UCAVs for armed/unarmed ISR missions. The UAV's long endurance compared to most of its counterparts, ability to carry two sensors at once, and SATCOM control, in addition to LOS communication, give it an edge, particularly in said missions.
