Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) and ASPİLSAN Enerji have signed a contract to manufacture and research aircraft battery cells inside the framework of the industrial participation and offset assistance of the Secretariat of Defence Industries. The offset agreement seeks to raise the localisation rate in Türkiye's design and manufacturing of aircraft batteries.
ASPİLSAN will use its research and development capacity to create high-performance cells satisfying aerospace sector criteria.
TUSAŞ will integrate locally made battery cells in its aircraft platforms. The accord fits Türkiye's larger plan to improve its military and aerospace industrial technological independence.
Through this project, Türkiye seeks to build a strong supply chain for aviation batteries, guaranteeing long-term sustainability and security in important energy storage solutions for domestic aircraft and military platforms.
