North Korea Shows Its Nuclear-Powered Submarine TurDef

North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un was briefed on the construction of a nuclear-propelled submarine that can be armed with “strategic” missiles.

North Korea is seemingly stepping up its game after submarines that can be armed with SLBMs with a nuclear-powered one to carry missiles of identical class.

The state media published footage from Kim Jong Un’s visit to the shipyards, where he was briefed on the submarine and was shown the design.

According to ABC News, South Korean submarine specialist Moon Keun-sik said that the North Korean nuclear submarine might weigh between 6000 to 7000 tonnes and carry approximately 10 missiles, likely SLBMs that can be armed with nuclear warheads.

North Korea’s modified Romeo-class submarines can carry the short-range Hwansong-11 series of SLBMs on a mast extension, but this new submarine is likely being built for SLBMs with a longer range.
