Poland will start enhancing its defence lines located on the Northeastern border with Russia and Belarus by the end of 2024.
Reuters reported that the reinforcement will take four years and a budget of $2.6 billion. The border region will be fitted with fortifications, ISR, and C-UAS systems by the end of 2028.
Cezary Tomczyk, Secretary of State, stated that the large-scale project is being carried out in cooperation with Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the U.K., and the U.S.
In addition to defensive measures, Poland has been investing in offensive ones as a means of deterrence against Russia following the spark of the Russo-Ukrainian War.
These deterrents include new MLRS from ROK and the U.S., acquiring F-35A fighters, Miecznik-class frigates, and new tanks.
The Eastern European country has also made additional investments in its own UAV industry, with new kamikaze and observation UAVs for field use being pumped out.
