A Polish Air Force Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV is operating as part of NATO’s Tailored Assurance Measures for Turkiye (TAMT) mission in the Mediterranean.

The Polish Air Force Bayraktar TB2 operating as a part of the TAMT force was spotted by the Polish Armed Forces photographer Piotr Gubernat.

The photo emerged on Twitter without the details on what operation the UAV was taking part in. TurDef reached out to Poland-based Defence24 to verify the details, to clear any confusion due to the ongoing Steadfast Dart 2026 exercise.

TAMT, aimed at supporting Turkiye through the alliance assets amid the rising tensions in the vicinity, includes the deployment of various sensory and defensive assets and patrol missions. Bayraktar TB2, as an armed ISR asset, plays an important role in long-endurance surveillance.

Poland’s Bayraktar TB2 Armed UAVs

Poland is the first European and NATO member customer of Bayraktar TB2, with 24 units delivered. This number might increase in the future, or Poland might go for other UAVs such as the STOL-capable Bayraktar TB3 with a higher operational ceiling and armament capacity.

In addition to this, Poland is the first customer to opt for a major modification on Bayraktar TB2, by integrating Leonardo’s Osprey 30 rotating AESA radar in place of the electro-optical system. Osprey 30, as a multi-role radar, provides surface and air search capabilities and SAR mode for extensive surveillance at longer ranges. This is an example of Bayraktar TB2's flexibility for user requirements.
