ROKETSAN shared a video on its third munition to be unveiled at SAHA EXPO 2026 defence exhibition, emphasising over-the-horizon engagement capability.
ROKETSAN’s teaser for the third product launch at SAHA EXPO 2026 hints at a new missile with over-the-horizon range. The type of missile is unknown, but it is seen that there is an optical (TV or IIR) seeker and folding fins. Additionally, the rocket nozzle is not seen to be located at the rear, but has a tiny exit instead.
Due to a small number of details shown, it is hard to infer what kind of missile will be unveiled, but ROKETSAN’s previous works and alternative medium to long-range missiles can give an idea of what to expect.
In terms of smaller missiles of longer range, ROKETSAN is developing the UMTAS GM line of surface/air-to-surface missiles consisting of UMTAS GM Block 1 (Laser or IIR) and the longer ranged UMTAS GM Block 2 with a dual mode TV+IIR seeker. However, these missiles seem to fall short in range compared to the imagery from ROKETSAN’s teaser.
Fibre-Optic Missile On The Way?
A fibre-optic missile is a closer possibility, as the missile shown does not have a nozzle at the rear end. This characteristic is shared by most fibre-optic missiles as the rear end houses the spool instead of the propulsion section, while the nozzles are mounted sideways to protect the cable. Aside from observations, this possibilility is historically supported by the fact that ROKETSAN took part in the development of the IDAS fibre-optic missile intended for submarines for a period.
Brazil's FOG-MPM Fibre-Optic Guided Multi Purpose Missile for Medium Range
One main advantage of a fibre-optic missile is that jamming is ineffective as the connection between the launcher and missile is hard-wired. This advantage has been thoroughly demonstrated with fibre-optic FPVs. Additionally, the hard-wired connection fully conceals the missile against passive RF detection methods.
A good example closer to what ROKETSAN describes is the Brazilian FOG-MPM missile, which is launched by Astros II MLRS and can engage a variety of targets, including vehicles, ships, and even helicopters, up to a range of 60 km or the aforementioned IDAS with similar capabilities but optimised for submarine use.
Two More Products on The Way to SAHA EXPO 2026
ROKETSAN has shared teasers for two other new products to be officially unveiled at SAHA EXPO 2026, as a bladed MAM-L variant for surgical strikes against high-value targets, especially under urban conditions, and what seems to be a multi-purpose missile against new asymmetric threats or low-flying targets.
