US-based Saronic announced the launch of its first Marauder Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel (MUSV), intended for use in both military and civilian sectors.
Saronic launched the first Marauder MUSV at Gulf Craft Shipyard, which it acquired roughly a year ago. The second Marauder MUSV hull is being fitted while two more are still being built per the firm’s statement.
Marauder is a 150 ft (45 m) USV capable of reaching a speed of 25 knots and autonomous operation. Designed with a large ‘flatbed’ section, the design supports various mission profiles, including logistics (Military and civilian use applicable), missile carrier (As previously shown with Mk70 containerised), ISR, and patrol. The MUSV can carry two 40 ft containers, or up to 40 tonnes.
The firm also plans to build smaller USVs in large numbers, including Spyglass (6 ft), Cutlass (14 ft), Corsair (24 ft), Mirage (40 ft), and Cipher (60 ft). For this end, a larger shipyard compared to the current Gulf Craft is planned, with an investment projected at $2.5 billion.
