Singapore Acquires 54 AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM

The State Department approved a possible FMS to Singapore of AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM with a projected cost of $133 million.

The State Department gave consent for a potential foreign military sale (FMS) of AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles to Singapore. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency provided the necessary certification and informed Congress of today's potential sale.

Singapore intends to procure 54 AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and two AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM guidance sections, estimated at $133 million. RTX Corporation will serve as the primary contractor. 

The AIM-120C-8 is an export version of the AIM-120D missile, with distinct software built under the form, fit, function refresh (F3R) concept. The AIM-120D is known to have a 160 km range, although the exact range remains classified.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF] as the F-15SG (a variant of the F-15E Strike Eagle ) and the F-16C/D Fighting Falcons in the inventory.
