SİPER Product 2 Missile Performs Second Firing Test

Secretary of Turkish Defence Industry (SSB) Haluk Görgün has announced the second firing test of the SİPER Product 2 long-range air defence missile.

Following its first firing test in 2023, the new missile for the SİPER long-range air defence system was test-fired in September 2024.

Unlike the first, the latest firing test appears to include a target. SİPER Product 2 missile is a new missile for the SİPER air defence system completely separate from the Product 1 missile derived from the HİSAR O+ RF missile of ROKETSAN.

Product 2 missile is a mono-block missile with a larger rocket engine and seeker, providing a range of 150+ km, longer than the two-stage Product 1's 100+ km. SİPER Product 3 missile is also under development, aimed towards ballistic missile defence role against TBMs and SRBMs.

SİPER long-range air defence system's serial production to begin with the Product 1 missile was signed on the 15th of December 2023. The first iteration of the system includes launchers, ALP-310G searching radar, AKREP-1000G multi-function fire control radar, and data-link platforms for distributed operation.

The system is the top layer of the Steel Dome (Çelik Kubbe) integrated air defence system.
