T70 Helicopter and AKSUNGUR Delivery to the Turkish Police TurDef

Turkish General Directorate of Security will receive a T70 utility helicopter, AKSUNGUR UAV, and T129 ATAK attack helicopter as an upgrade to the air support.

Anadolu Agency News reported that the General Directorate of Security (EGM) is soon to receive its first AKSUNGUR UAV alongside one T70 utility helicopter and another T129 attack helicopter, on the 13th of April 2026.

The importance of AKSUNGUR in law enforcement service lies in its long endurance, which can go up to 50+ hours. The lighter Bayraktar TB2 UAVs in the service of law enforcement have an endurance of 27 hours. AKSUNGUR can also be fitted with secondary non-weapon payloads such as FULMAR 300-A or MİLSAR SAR and communication relays. The Turkish Police utilises long-endurance UAVs for counter-terrorism, tracking of fugitives, and the monitoring of other illegal activities (Narcotics and human trafficking).

T70 is a wide-scale localisation of the S-70 utility helicopters that have been in service with various Turkish service branches. EGM, alongside the Turkish Army, Air Force, and Gendarmerie, is among the recipients of TUSAŞ’s S-70 derivative.

On the other hand, as a rare case, the Turkish Police Special Forces (PÖH) utilises T129 ATAK helicopters in a configuration that only consists of the 20 mm rotary cannon and 70 mm rockets. The helicopters have been adopted to provide close air support to the counter-terrorism operations conducted by PÖH units.
