Türkiye's defence exports reached $3.6 billion in H1 2025 TurDef

Turkish Defence and Aviation export reached $623 million in June while the export Between January and June 2025 climbed by 25%, reaching $3.6 billion.

The Turkish defence and aerospace sector is now a key factor in not just national security but also in the growth of technology, industry, and the economy.

In the first half of 2025, the sector increased its exports by 25%, reaching $3.603 billion. In June alone, exports rose by 10.4% year-on-year to $623 million. Monthly figures highlight this steady momentum: $383 million in January (up 16%), $434 million in February (up 44%), $884.2 million in March, and a record-breaking $539 million in April—marking a 54% increase compared to the previous year. According to Defence Industry President Haluk Görgün, the surge in exports—now totalling $7.454 billion over the past 12 months—is “not merely a statistic, but a manifestation of a visionary development architecture.”

Speaking to Sabah on 3 July, Görgün noted that 55.4% of Türkiye’s 2024 defence exports were directed to Europe and NATO allies. “Our systems are not only operationally capable, but also cost-effective. The United States is also a major customer,” he said.

Görgün underlined Türkiye’s position in unmanned systems, stating: “Developing unmanned combat aircraft requires advanced technological capability. Since 2018, Türkiye has held approximately 65% of the global UAV market — both armed and unarmed.”

He also emphasised the importance of reliability and transparency in international partnerships. “We operate without hidden agendas. Whatever we do, we say it openly. This is how the international community sees us. Our President is a leader who inspires confidence. Trust matters greatly in defence. We do not see any deal as a one-off sale. After-sales services — including maintenance and repair — are integral. What sets Türkiye apart is its ability to deliver that support swiftly when required,” he added.

The strong performance in the first half of the year puts Türkiye on track to exceed previous annual records, further consolidating its role as a reliable and competitive player in the global defence market.
