Bitter relations between Turkiye and India affect port visits. The planned Indian port visit of the TCG Kınalıada F-514, which returned to Turkiyefrom Japan, did not take place.
The formal visit to the Mumbai Port of India, which was set for July 14-16, 2024, has been cancelled. The Ministry of National Defence made the announcement today during its weekly news briefing. The announcement reads, "Continuing her return journey from Japan, our TCG KINALIADA corvette is making a port visit to Oman after Sri Lanka. Our corvette will begin her journey to the next port, Qatar, on July 21 and will reach the Doha port between July 23 and 25."
MBS earlier reported that TCG Kınalıda (F-514) would visit Colombo-Sri Lanka ports from July 9 to 11, Mumbai-India ports from July 14 to 16, and Muscat-Oman ports from July 19 to 21. There has recently been a rise in anti-Turkish stories in the Indian press. India sells missiles to Armenia. Turkish TAİS business was designing and building five 45-thousand-ton fuel and logistical supply ships for India at a cost of $2.3 billion, according to the signed deal in August 2023. India suspended TAIS' workshare in April without providing a reason. India continues to work on the programme through India Shipyard Limited.
