Turkish MFA Gets "Defence Industry" Regulation

Articles related to the defence industry were included in the duties of the General Directorate of International Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Presidential Decree about the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs was published in today’s Official Gazette. According to the newspaper, the name of the "General Directorate of International Security Affairs" was changed to "General Directorate of International Security". The Directorate's duties and powers have been expanded to include some issues related to the defence industry sector. The new task areas in question are as follows: “To carry out the coordination of relations with third countries within the Ministry on matters related to defence and defence industry, To coordinate issues regarding defence industry relations with third countries with relevant institutions and organizations, To follow and analyse the impact of developments in the field of international security and defence on our foreign policy and foreign security and to carry out policy studies on this subject, “To work on global and regional security architectures.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the General Directorate of International Security, is expected to provide more effective support to the Secretariat of Defence Industries in the new period to increase Turkiye's defence industry exports.
