Defence Ministry Company ASFAT Inc. will construct a “Marine Cleaning and Oil Collection Vessel” for use in Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ) activities. BOTAŞ is the only Public Institution with the “Emergency Intervention and Damage Compensation Certificate in Pollution of Marine Environment by Oil and Other Harmful Substances.”
The company wants to have the capacity to intervene in oil spills both at sea and on pipeline routes. The Marine Cleaning and Oil Collection Vessel, to be manufactured within the project’s scope, will conduct oil collection and marine cleaning activities in national and international waters, with a strong focus on environmental sensitivity.
This commitment to environmental protection is a key aspect of the project, ensuring that the vessel’s activities will positively impact the marine environment. Activities regarding the transfer of bilge, sludge, slop, dirty oil, garbage and sewage waste originating from ships will be carried out safely with the Marine Cleaning and Oil Collection Vessel.
In addition, many critical activities such as collecting oil from the sea surface, liquid and solid waste collection from ships, barrier laying and collection, external skimmer launching and lifting operations from ships to the sea, fire extinguishing and floating storage tank towing service will be carried out by the ship alone.
