TUSAŞ has delivered the first T625 GÖKBEY utility helicopter configured for the needs of the Turkish Army, set to succeed the ageing fleet of UH-1 Huey helicopters.
TUSAŞ’s sixth delivery of T625 GÖKBEY six-tonnes utility helicopter is the first delivery for the Turkish Army, as the successor for UH-1 Huey.
With this, TUSAŞ has delivered GÖKBEY to three brances as the Turkish Gendarmerie and the Ministry of Health.
UH-1 Huey helicopters to be replaced by T625 GÖKBEY are set to be converted into heavy RUAVs to take on logistics support missions by TİTRA, which is known for the ALPİN RUAV in use by the Turkish Army.
Initial production T625 GÖKBEYs are being delivered with CTS800 turboshaft engines, which will be replaced with TEI’s TS1400 turboshafts.
TEI’s CEO, Mahmut Faruk Akşit, previously stated that TS1400, using fully regulation-compliant components, will be run in 2026. T625 GÖKBEY's deliveries with indigenous engine are planned to begin between 2027-2028.
