UAV-230 Aeroballistic Missile Breaks Range Record

Two ROKETSAN UAV-230 aeroballistic missiles launched from AKINCI UCAV successfully hit the target 155 km away, setting a new record.

UAV-230's new configuration was validated in terms of range with the test. In the previous test with AKINCI, the missile hit a target 150 km away. The stated maximum range of 150+ km is expected to be longer when launched off higher-flying and faster-unmanned platforms like the KIZILELMA unmanned fighter.

The UAV-230 is a TRG-230 GPS/INS-guided 230 mm artillery rocket development. The initial production variant is externally the same as the TRG-230, while the newer variant features revisions such as larger control surfaces and a new tail fin configuration. The missile can be fitted with a laser seeker, as stated by ROKETSAN.

ROKETSAN has also added the UAV-122 family of aeroballistic missiles with a range of 55+ km as a lighter alternative. UAV-122 is a development of the TRLG-122 laser-guided artillery rocket, but it doesn't necessarily require a seeker. Currently, UAV-122 is available in GPS/INS-only, laser seeker, and TV seeker configurations.
