The Ukrainian Navy released a video showcasing the Ivan Mazepa’ corvette at state tests. The ship, built by Turkish STM, began construction in January 2021.
The future Flagship of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ivan Mazepa Corvette, is at state tests. It recently passed artillery firing. Ukrainian Navy Commander Oleksii Neizhpapa praised the vessel’s “performance” and highlighted its modern weapon systems, including a 76-mm OTO Melara artillery capable of firing 120 rounds per minute and a ASELSAN Gökdeniz 35-mm CIWS—the vessel’s cruise tests in May 2024.
The Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksii Neizhpapa, announced on his Facebook page, “The Ivan Mazepa corvette performed admirably during the artillery bombardment, accurately hitting ground, sea, and air targets. The Navy Commander stated that the ship’s combat capabilities are greatly enhanced by its sophisticated weaponry. All of the earlier technical remarks have been considered, and the corvette’s modernisation is concentrated on guaranteeing optimal effectiveness and protection in combat; specifically, the air defence systems have been reinforced. “Ivan Mazepa represents the unstoppable Ukrainian fleet, and it is the newest technology. We are prepared for the new demands of battle, and our forces are gaining confidence. Ukraine is a maritime powerhouse that can fend off any threats. Neizhpapa went on.
