Baykar’s Akıncı UCAV performed the first test of ROKETSAN’s TEBER-83 laser/GNSS guidance kit for 1000 lb Mk83 general purpose bombs on a stationary target.
Akıncı has tested the new guidance kit with some differences from baseline TEBER-81/82 kits on a stationary target with minimal deviation.
TEBER-83 is the new addition to ROKETSAN’s TEBER line of dual guidance kits for the Mk83 general-purpose bombs. Up to this point, the TEBER family had consisted of TEBER-81 for Mk81 and three configurations of TEBER-82 for Mk82.
The most striking difference of TEBER-83 is the presence of strakes likely to provide better lift against the larger weight of Mk83 bombs. Considering winged configurations of TEBER-82, which have been tested not long ago (Stubby wings and deployable wings), it is possible to see similar configurations for TEBER-83 in the near future as well.
TEBER Guidance Kits
TEBER is a family of guidance kits coupling GNSS+INS and laser guidance to allow hits on both stationary and moving targets.
Several configurations have been developed, with the recent ones being the stubby-winged TEBER-82 for UCAVs, deployable wing TEBER-82 with extended range, and TEBER-83.
The kit has been integrated into F-16, Akıncı UCAV, and Aksungur UCAV. Future platforms for TEBER include the stealthy Anka-III UCAV, Kızılelma unmanned fighter, and KAAN fighter.
