AKINCI UCAV Drops Winged TEBER Guidance Kit

AKINCI UCAV Drops Winged TEBER Guidance Kit

The new ROKETSAN TEBER Laser+GPS guidance kit with fixed wings was dropped from AKINCI UCAV alongside MAM-T IIR and MAM-C munitions. The new version of the TEBER kit with stub wings has a longer range thanks to improved gliding performance. This will play an important role in using UCAVs, as their lower speed and altitude shorten the maximum range. Additionally, no moving parts mean the cost is lower than pop-up winged kits like LAÇİN and KGK.

While no statement on range has been made, guidance kits of similar aerodynamic layout, SPICE and AASM, land between 50 and 60 km when dropped from fighter jets. It is safe to assume winged TEBER would land in a similar regime. In another test where MAM-L TV and MAM-T IIR were tested, what appears to be a test munition of LAÇİN was also spotted. The unspecified bomb was matched with LAÇİN with an inspection of the wing kit and tail kit, but the IIR seeker wasn’t present.

The test also marks another MAM-T IIR drop. MAM-T (IIR) and MAM-L (IIR and TV) were tested with alternative seekers in late 2023 and the first half of 2024. MAM-T IIR has a more than 50 km range, thanks to no constraint from the maximum laser designation range. Additionally, ROKETSAN is developing the TV+IIR seeker and folding wing versions of MAM-T, with the former set to be tested this year.
