ASELSAN Teases ATGM-Fitted IFV Turret TurDef

ASELSAN has shown an IFV turret that can be armed with ATGMs on its document for 25 mm ATOM airburst ammunition, ATOM 25 ABM.

The new turret design is shown alongside the NEFER IFV turret and NEFER-L RCWS. The turret appears to have a 25 mm autocannon and retractable ATGM launcher with two missiles.

The design is externally similar to the KORHAN turret with a matching structure and scale; thus, it might be a new configuration with lighter autocannon options compared to the 35 mm autocannon on the baseline configuration to make room for ATGMs.

Like NEFER-L, fitted with an ammunition programmer at the barrel end for ATOM 25 ABM for the KORKUT 25 C-UAS system, NEFER and the new turret must be modified similarly.

ATOM 25 ABM is the third member of the ATOM airburst ammunition family after 35x228 mm and 40x53 mm versions. Unlike ATOM 35 ABM, which uses tungsten pellets scattered by a small charge, ATOM 25 uses a pre-fragmented casing for area effect to maintain simplicity.

With ATGMs and the capability to use ATOM 25 ABM, the new turret can engage heavily armoured vehicles and UAVs in addition to the target set of NEFER/NEFER-L.
