ASELSAN has published specifications for the new ATOM 35 Intense Air Burst Munition, with an optimised scattering pattern against UAVs and infantry.
The new member of the ATOM line is defined as an Anti-Personnel and Anti-UAV ammunition, with a redesigned warhead to optimise the scattering of pellets for increased efficiency against small UAVs or infantry.
Unlike the baseline ATOM 35 ABM with a wide range of applications (KORKUT SPAAG, modernised 35 mm AA guns, GÖKDENİZ CIWS, IFVs), ATOM 35 IABM is specifically intended for IFVs and the GÖKER (KORKUT 110/35) weapon system.
The rounds have an effective range of five kilometres against infantry and two kilometres against small UAVs.
While what changes to the warhead have been made is not specified, the new ammunition may have a similar warhead layout with the ATOM 25 ABM for the KORKUT 25 C-UAS system. ATOM 25 ABM has a pre-fragmented warhead instead of a high count of pellets spread in a conical manner by a small explosive charge.
