ASFAT Delivers Two Hisar-class Ships to Two Navies TurDef

ASFAT delivered Hisar-class TCG Koçhisar (P-1221) OPV and Ex-TCG Akhisar CAm. Roman (261) corvette to the Turkish and Romanian Navies at Istanbul Shipyard.

Two Hisar-class ships were delivered at the same time to two navies with the attendance of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Romanian President Nicuşor Dan.

The Turkish Navy received the TCG Koçhisar (P-1221) OPV and the Romanian Navy received Ex-TCG Akhisar CAm. Roman (261) corvette at Istanbul Naval Shipyard Command.

While the two ships are currently in the same configuration, it is expected that Romania will make modifications to the armament of CAm. Roman, including the integration of NSM cruise missiles, to render the ship as a full-on corvette rather than OPV due to requirements.

The parallel delivery of Hisar-class ships is another milestone in the Turkish-Romanian defence cooperation, which has gained momentum with Otokar’s  [BIST: OTKAR] export of 1059+ Cobra II 4x4 armoured vehicles and the establishment of a facility in Romania for local production.
