Saronic’s Marauder MUSV Begins Sea Trials After Fitting TurDef

Saronic announced the start of sea trials shortly after the launch of the first Marauder MUSV, with the sensors fitted alongside three 20 ft containers.

Saronic is rapidly progressing with the Marauder MUSV based on an existing hull design, envisioned to carry heavy payloads and new weaponry with a capacity for four 40 ft containers. The company shared the sea trial footage of the 45 m long MUSV.

Navigation radars and a handful of optics have been integrated on Marauder. Additionally, three 20 ft containers are present, presumably to evaluate handling with payload.

Thanks to the advancements in containerised missile launchers that can be seamlessly integrated on platforms with available space, MUSVs are on their way to becoming floating missile trucks. Marauder, in this regard, is planned to be integrated with Castelion’s Blackbeard compact hypersonic missile that stands out with a smaller warhead and a simple design based on solid-fuel rocket propulsion rather than scramjet or liquid-fuel rocket.
