ASELSAN has announced that Azerbaijan has become the first export customer of the ASELFLIR-500 electro-optical system in a-Bülten.
September 2024 had been a month of ASELSAN expanding its cooperation in Azerbaijan. The optics might be intended for future batches of Bayraktar TB2 and AKINCI UCAVs.
ASELFLIR-500 is the successor of CATS onboard Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV with lower weight and higher resolution cameras. Due to its higher performance, the electro-optic is also suitable for use onboard larger UCAVs like AKINCI and AKSUNGUR. TUSAŞ'S ANKA-III stealth UCAV used the optic for its first firing test with a TEBER-82 laser/GPS-guided bomb.
ASELSAN is also developing electro-optical systems for the aforementioned higher-end platforms.
ASELFLIR-600, with a larger size compared to ASELFLIR-500, will have improved long-range imaging capabilities and is intended for larger UCAVs.
TOYGUN family of EOTS are being developed for the KIZILELMA unmanned fighter, ANKA-III UCAV, and KAAN fighter jet as the main targeting system with low radar cross section (RCS).
