Azerbaijan – Turkish Defence Relations to Improve

On April 1, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has met with a delegation led by the vice president of the Presidency of Defence Industries Mustafa Murat Şeker.

Defence Minister met with the Turkish Defence Industry Committee and the Air Force representatives, as well as ASELSAN and HAVELSAN companies. According to the ministry press release, the Minister stressed the importance of developing bilateral military-technical cooperation. The Minister emphasized Turkish Defence Industry products such as weapons, combat equipment and other military equipment, which are in the Azerbaijan Army's use, have significantly increased the Army's combat capability. Due to the effective use of these weapons in the Patriotic War, the enemy suffered a severe blow.

Colonel-General Z. Hasanov stressed the importance of such meetings in terms of expanding our military-technical cooperation.

The meeting discussed issues of equipping the Azerbaijan Army with the latest electronic technologies, expanding the capabilities of communication systems, the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation, and other aspects of mutual interest.

Colonel general is a three or four-star rank in some armies, usually equivalent to that of a full general in other armies. North Korea and UUSR have used the rank in that fashion throughout their histories.
