Bayraktar TB2 Drops BOZOK and KAYI 30 Guided Munitions TurDef

TÜBİTAK SAGE’s BOZOK and KAYI 30 laser-guided glide munitions were dropped from Baykar’s Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV, scoring hits on the ground target.

While BOZOK was tested before, the larger KAYI 30’s test is the first announced one. The test footage shared by Baykar shows KAYI 30 with a live warhead detonating above the target with what appears to be a proximity fuse.

KAYI 30 can be described as a scaled-up BOZOK as it shares many external features at a weight of 24 kg, whereas BOZOK weighs 16 kg. Like BOZOK, KAYI 30’s guidance suite consists of a laser seeker, GNSS, and INS. The new munition can reach a range of 25 km when dropped at 25000 ft, 180 knots. Three warhead options are available: Armour-Piercing Anti-Personnel and Penetrating Thermobaric.

TÜBİTAK SAGE is also working on a larger variant of the KAYI family, KAYI 50, with a weight of 45 kg and high aspect ratio wings for better gliding performance. Thanks to improved gliding performance, KAYI 50 can reach a range of 30 km when dropped at 20000 ft and 120 knots. KAYI 50 adds the IIR seeker option in addition to the laser seeker.
