Bayraktar TB3 UCAV Controls MKE's Pirana Kamikaze USV TurDef

Bayraktar TB3 UCAV took off from the TCG Anadolu LHD, took control of the MKE's Pirana Kamikaze USV, and guided it to the target in the recent teaming test.

Bayraktar TB3's test with Pirana Kamikaze USV demonstrated the cooperative use of a UCAV and a USV for a rather unconventional method of anti-surface warfare. Pirana Kamikaze USV, directed to the static target by Bayraktar TB3, successfully performed the non-detonating collision.

Bayraktar TB2 was used in a similar test where it guided ASELSAN's Albatros Kamikaze USV to a target ship. The target ship struck by the warhead-fitted Albatros received major structural damage from the blast and sank.

In addition to Bayraktar TB3, already set to be deployed onboard TCG Anadolu (L400) LHD, kamikaze USVs can be deployed from the floodable dock, which normally hosts landing craft and amphibious armoured vehicles.

This would give TCG Anadolu an alternative anti-surface warfare capability from long-range, where Kamikaze USVs are given ISTAR support by Bayraktar TB3s operating from the LHD. USVs could be paired with Bayraktar TB3's extended-range munition options like Kemankeş 1 and UAV-122 for two-pronged strikes against maritime targets.
