Brazilian government gazette DOU announced the approval of the five-year defence industry cooperation agreement with Turkiye on the 10th of September 2025.
Brazil-based Tecnologia & Defesa Editor Paulo Roberto Bastos Jr. reported the approval of the defence cooperation agreement, which might open a new chapter.
The cooperation will cover research, development, production, and modernisation activities and will last five years. In case of joint development or production, joint sale to third parties is also included.
Brazil has shown interest in the Turkish defence industry over the course of the past few years.
The most recent example is Otokar’s TULPAR AFV, making it to the shortlist in the tender for new IFVs and fire support vehicles. Others are the selection of Kale Jet Engines’ KTJ-3200 turbojet for MANSUP-ER anti-ship missile and Canik’s M2 QCB winning the Brazilian Army’s tender.
Another chance for Turkiye and Brazil to deepen their defence ties is in the new tender for armed UAVs, for which Bayraktar TB2 is eligible.
On the other hand, Brazil’s major aerospace firm Embraer is interested in exporting the KC-390 medium-sized turbofan-powered cargo plane to Turkiye, which is reviewing the options to expand its transport fleet.
