The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has indicated an interest in Turkiye's National Combat Aircraft, KAAN, according to TUSAŞ General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu, who also highlighted the prospect of working on a cooperative air platform.
Demiroğlu underlined in an exclusive interview with TRT Haber TUSAŞ's great presence in the UAE market and her work on several initiatives involving governmental organisations as well as commercial enterprises. Aiming to investigate joint manufacturing of Hürkuş and co-develop aircraft manufactured by Calidus, he announced that TUSAŞ had inked a deal with UAE-based Calidus.

Demiroğlu also pointed out the UAE's strong interest in the ATAK helicopter, remembering their earlier ATAK 1 testing and later trips to Turkiye for more assessments. Under continuous conversations, efforts are being made to speed up the procurement process. With earlier projects from the UAE side to buy the ANKA-3 UAV, the TUSAŞ official further highlighted UAE's serious purpose over the platform.

He indicated that both parties are open to developing a new platform together, with promising updates expected soon. Addressing the ANKA-3's progress, Demiroğlu stated that TUSAŞ continuously works to enhance the platform in coordination with the Turkish Air Force. Recent tests included internal weapons bay firings, with more tests planned. The aircraft's entry into service is anticipated shortly.
Demiroğlu also gave updates on KAAN, noting continuous effort on the second and third prototypes. The second prototype is supposed to fly by the end of this year; the third will fly early in 2026. He pointed to 2028 for the first delivery of KAAN and praised the efforts of several military sector companies.
The UAE's interest in KAAN and its existing collaboration with Saudi Arabia signals the expansion of international partnerships for Turkiye's defence industry.
