The Chadian authorities have demanded France to complete the withdrawal of all French troops from the country by January 31, 2025, at the latest.
According to the French public radio RFI, the Chadian authorities requested that the Paris authorities withdraw French troops from their territory before January 31.
The Chadian government announced on November 28 that it has decided to cancel the agreement signed with France, which aims to strengthen cooperation in the defence industry and security sectors. Chad General Staff made a statement on December 10, indicating that French warplanes had begun to leave the country.

France has already pulled its soldiers out of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger following military coups in those West African countries and spreading anti-French sentiment.
The departure from Chad will end decades of French military presence in the Sahel region.
A contingent of 120 soldiers left on December 20, marking the beginning of France's troop withdrawal from one of the last former colonies, where it still maintained a military presence. France still has about 1,000 troops stationed in Chad. France claims that the full drawdown would take several weeks, but local authorities do not agree.
