GD-OTS Announces REPKON for Artillery Projectile Production

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) announced the Turkish REPKON for artillery projectile metal production facility in Mesquite, Texas. On Wednesday, May 29, General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, a business subsidiary of General Dynamics, and The Joint Programme Executive Office for Armaments and Ammunition held the grand opening ceremony for a new, modern artillery projectile metal parts factory in Mesquite, Texas. The modern, scalable manufacturing facility employs high levels of automation and novel manufacturing techniques based on Universal Artillery Projectile Lines. These projectile lines will generate 155mm artillery metal components while also providing versatility in manufacturing projectile metal parts ranging in calibre from 60mm to 155mm. President of General Dynamics OTS Fırat Gezen said, “This Universal Artillery Projectile Line facility was designed and purpose-built to integrate new, innovative manufacturing processes to provide a resilient and enduring industrial capability for our warfighters,” and added “We are grateful for the U.S. Army, our JPEO A&A teammates, our equipment supplier REPKON, Swinerton, numerous trade partners, and the GD-OTS employees who have worked diligently to make this significant occasion a reality.” Gezen’s words unveil the REPKON company. U.S. Ambassador to Turkiye Jeffry Flake, who wrote an article for the Deseret, a subsidiary of the Deseret Management Corporation, had stated in February 2024 that “the Department of Defence is building three munitions’ lines purchased from a Turkish defence firm”. Flake did disclose the Turkish company’s name but declared that “an estimated 30 per cent of all 155 mm rounds made in America will come from these Texas factories.”
