India and Russia co-produce the AK-203 Assault Rifle

India and Russia, through a joint venture Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) located in India, started production of the Kalashnikov 7.62×39mm calibre AK-203 assault rifle. 

The Company complies with the “Made in India” campaign initiative of the government of India. The joint venture will produce the AK-203, 100 per cent raw material from India. In the future, the Company will increase its production and production facilities to produce Kalashnikov assault rifles. Initial deliveries to the Indian Army are expected soon. India was the first to start producing AK-200 series assault rifles from world-renowned brands. The joint venture will manufacture 6 million rifles over ten years.
