Israel has executed a sequence of missile strikes against Iran in retaliation for Iran’s recent missile attack earlier this month.
The Israeli military reports that these strikes effectively targeted military locations in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam while preventing any damage to Iran’s oil or nuclear facilities.
The operation was publicly announced by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Saturday, following reports of explosions within Iranian territory. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the IDF spokesperson, emphasized Israel’s commitment to protecting its security, stating that the military has effectively demonstrated its readiness “to defend the State of Israel.”
The IDF confirmed that the strikes focused on missile production facilities and related sites located near Tehran and in the western regions of Iran. The operation was widely anticipated as a response to Iran’s barrage of nearly 200 ballistic missiles fired toward Israel on October 1.
Iranian authorities confirmed the strikes on sites in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam, asserting that their defences effectively thwarted the operations, leading to merely “limited damage” in certain regions.
After the strikes, Iranian state media shared footage showing normal city traffic flow. Reports also indicated that schools and sports activities proceeded as planned, underscoring the Iranian government’s stance that the situation remains controlled.
