Italy Respects Turkish Blue Homeland Doctrine

Italian wire laying ship C/S TELIRI has used a Turkish station to publish a NAVTEX for its activities within the Blue Homeland borders.

C/S TELIRI’s use of a Turkish station for NAVTEX for an operation in the Blue Homeland (Mavi Vatan) is an important step in the absolute recognition of Blue Homeland as this shows Italy respects the Turkish borders at sea. The NAVTEX was shared by TURK DEGS.

In the case of neighbouring countries, Greece (and Greek Cyprus) keeps up with its anti-Turkiye policies and claims of Seville Map which has no logical standpoint for zone distribution.

Egypt, initially taking an anti-Turkiye stance, has recently turned to a pro-Turkiye one in the past few years alongside a series of defence cooperation agreements.

For Israel’s case, it is more than likely that the stance remains anti-Turkiye with Turkiye cutting its trade relations in 2024 due to the targeting of civilians in Gaza.

Greek daily Kathimerini states that the Italian ship lays the telecommunication cables from Greek Cyprus to Greece and then to Italy. The publication also claims the vessel is sailing southwest of Cyprus under discreet surveillance by the Turkish Navy Burak Class corvette TCG Bartin F-504.
