Italian Leonardo and UAE-based EDGE Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding to form a joint venture to cooperate in various areas including air defence.
Following the LBA Systems joint venture with Baykar to debut in Paris Airshow 2025 in the coming days, Leonardo is aiming for a joint venture with EDGE Group of the UAE.
EDGE Group stated that the JV will revolve around Naval command-control systems, air defence, C-UAS, capabilities for maritime multi-mission aircraft, optics, and high-performance computing for missile applications.
Coupled with the LBA Systems JV, Leonardo’s upcoming JV with EDGE is a sign that the Italian firm is exploring new opportunities in the East in addition to its existing cooperations with European countries and the U.S.
Considering the timing of LBA Systems' debut, it can be said that the new JV with EDGE might make its debut before the end of 2025.
