MKE delivered a Denizhan 76/62 mm naval gun for the Hisar-class OPV TCG Koçhisar (P-1221), which is set to start its acceptance tests soon.
With ten ships planned, the Turkish Navy's Hisar-class OPVs are set to form a considerable bulk of the combatant fleet. Unlike Ada-class Corvettes and Istif-class frigates, all ships will use MKE's 76/62 mm naval gun from the start. The domestically produced naval gun was first integrated into a Burak-class corvette for testing purposes following the ground-based firing tests.
TCG Koçhisar is the second Hisar-class OPV, launched alongside the first ship, TCG Akhisar (P-1220), on the 23rd of September, 2023.
Hisar-class OPVs stem from the Ada-class MİLGEM corvettes of the Turkish Navy with a common hull. Important changes include provision for HİSAR-D air defence missiles, Combined Diesel-Electric or Diesel propulsion, GÖKDENİZ CIWS instead of Mk49 RAM as a more versatile option, and Unirobotics TARGAN 12.7 mm as the RCWS.
