NATO Opens Liaison Office in Jordan Amman

NATO expanded its focus on its southern vicinity by establishing a liaison office in Jordan to foster enhanced cooperation between the Middle East and Africa. During the 2024 NATO Summit in Washington, D.C., NATO officially announced that its countries had agreed to a strategic plan that included the creation of a liaison office in Jordan. The primary objective of the new Office is to enhance interaction and foster collaboration with its partners across the Middle East and North Africa region.

The decision acknowledges Jordan's position as a symbol of stability in both regional and global contexts, as stated in the NATO Summit Communiqué in Vilnius in July 2023. The Office, functioning as a representative office, will facilitate regular interaction between NATO and the Jordanian authorities, promoting a more comprehensive comprehension of the national and regional circumstances.

It will also aid in the creation and execution of partnership initiatives and undertakings, such as conferences, courses, and training programmes in fields like strategic analysis, civil emergency planning and preparedness, crisis management, and public diplomacy.
