During IDEAS 2024, Pakistani defence firm GIDS unveiled the Eghraaq mini-torpedo suitable for use on UAVs.
Quwa reported that the torpedo is Pakistan's first entry into anti-submarine weaponry.
With a length of 2.8 meters, a diameter of 250 mm, and a maximum range of eight kilometres, the torpedo is more suitable for deployment from UAVs with limited carrying capacity than maritime patrol aircraft.
In comparison, lightweight torpedoes used by warships, maritime patrol aircraft, and ASW helicopters weigh more than 300 kg.
Regarding what UCAV Pakistan can deploy the torpedo from, AKINCI is a candidate due to its payload capacity of more than 1.5 tonnes. Integrating the Eghraaq mini-torpedo on AKINCI will require cooperation with Baykar, but this wouldn't be the first time as Pakistan previously integrated Barq air-to-surface missiles and indigenously developed guidance kits on Bayraktar TB2 and AKINCI platforms.
