The Philippine Navy has announced the commissioning of the lead Rajah Sulayman-class OPV alongside the last Acero-class missile-carrying fast attack craft.
The commissioning of the first Rajah Sulayman-class OPV, BRP Rajah Sulayman (PS20), and the last Acero-class fast attack craft, BRP Audrey Bañares (PG910), was announced by the Philippine Navy on its official Facebook account.
Rajah Sulayman-class OPVs, based on HDP-2200 design of the ROK-based HHI, will use ASELSAN’s SMASH 200/30 30 mm naval RCWS as their secondary armament alongside Leonardo's 76 mm SR naval gun. SMASH 200/30 is the largest member of ASELSAN’s SMASH family with a Bushmaster Mk44 chain gun and an independent EO/IR system for rapid targeting.
Another notable use of ASELSAN’s naval weaponry onboard Philippine warships is the GÖKDENİZ 100/35/StA 35 mm CIWS on the Miguel Malvar-class frigates, also built by HHI. The CIWS with a pair of 35 mm autocannons is fitted with CENK 200-N searching radar and AKREP 100-N fire control radar and is capable of firing ATOM 35 airburst ammunition.
