BRP Rajah Sulayman (PS-20) OPV of the Philippine Navy, built by ROK’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, has been seen fitted with ASELSAN’s SMASH 200/30 naval RCWS.

The lead ship of the Rajah Sulayman-class OPVs has been spotted with the SMASH 200/30 RCWS developed by ASELSAN in a video shared by the Philippines-based Twitter (X) account @ReHorizon3.

Rajah Sulayman-class OPVs based on the HDP-2200 design of the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) are being built by the ROK, with six ships to be delivered in total. Other armaments of the Rajah Sulayman-class include Leonardo 76 mm SR naval gun and manually operated 12.7 mm HMGs.

SMASH 200/30 has been exported to multiple countries including Pakistan (Yarmook-class), Slovenia (MPS Triglav patrol vessel), Croatia (OOB-31 OMIS-class patrol vessels), and Indonesia (Indonesian Maritime Security Agency OPVs).

SMASH 200/30

SMASH 200/30 is a large-calibre naval RCWS developed by ASELSAN for patrol vessels as a main weapon or larger ones as a secondary weapon. The dual-feed RCWS with 100+100 rounds is fitted with a Mk44S Bushmaster II chain gun.

The EO/IR system of SMASH 200/30 features two-axis movement for optimised tracking, and the fire control can be supported by the other sensors fitted on the ship, such as radars and wind sensors.

Other members of the SMASH family of naval RCWS include SMASH 200/12.7 with a 12.7 mm HMG or 40 mm AGL and SMASH 200/25 with Oerlikon KBA 25 mm autocannon.
