Poland Receives 29 U.S Abrams MBTs

Polish Armament Agency stated that MBTs and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) Oshkosh M-ATV vehicles arrived at the port of Świnoujście in Western Pomerania. The cars were ordered in July 2023 under the EDA (Excess Defence Articles) program Warsaw ordered 116 M1A1s last year to complement the force’s upcoming 250 M1A2 tanks.

The 1.3-billion euro ($1.4 billion) deal was signed in 2023 to strengthen Poland’s defences amid the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war. Deliveries began in June last year and are expected to be completed by late 2024. Poland has also begun purchasing capabilities from other countries, including 180 K2 Black Panther tanks from South Korea. Oshkosh M-ATV was developed for the needs of the U.S. Army based on experience with using this type of vehicle in the first phase of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
