Repkon USA to Produce TNT with a $435 Million Contract TurDef

The U.S. Army has signed a $435 million agreement with Repkon USA, the American subsidiary of Türkiye-based defence manufacturer Repkon, to establish large-scale TNT production within the United States.

On March 25, 2025, Repkon and BAE Systems revealed their collaboration, underlining their shared commitment to innovation and industrial tenacity. Executives from both industries praised the cooperation as a vital step in providing military forces with next-generation technology and scalable production capabilities.

Repkon USA will design, construct, and run a new TNT production plant meant to sustain the domestic supply of explosives for military purposes under the conditions of the deal. Improving the dependability and self-sufficiency of the U.S. defence industrial base, the factory will mostly produce TNT for use in artillery rounds, grenades, and other explosives. The action fits the Pentagon's larger plan to rely less on foreign sources for vital supplies.

Apart from the TNT project, Repkon USA and BAE Systems have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work on creating advanced munitions.

As the principal munitions provider to the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence, BAE Systems has been expanding its manufacturing capacity since 2023 to meet the rising global need for 155 mm artillery rounds.

Repkon has agreed to a high-volume contract to set up a 155 mm artillery ammunition manufacturing facility in Germany. Planned to start running in early 2027, this plant will be built to attain maximum automation with the fewest people.

To satisfy the US Department of Defence's requirements, the corporation has set three manufacturing lines at a Texas 155 mm artillery ammunition facility. Establishing a TNT production plant in Kentucky will also help raise the US munitions output capacity.

Pakistan: Repkon has signed an agreement with Wah Industries Limited (WIL) to establish a 155 mm artillery ammunition body production and filling line in Pakistan. Within this scope, a highly automated turnkey line will be established for the annual production of 120 thousand 155 mm bodies.

Azerbaijan: Repkon signed several facility agreements for ammunition production at the Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition (ADEX 2024). Although no details were given, these agreements aim to increase Azerbaijan's ammunition production capacity.
