The Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) received "Al Diriyah", the second of five Avante 2200 class corvettes ordered from the Saudi Kingdom as part of the Alsarawat project. The receiving ceremony occurred at the Spanish naval base of La Caraca in Seville.
The vessel is 104m long, 14m wide, and 2,800t displacement, with a Leonardo Super Rapid 76mm main gun, 16 Mica anti-aircraft missiles, 8 Exocet MM40 anti-ship missiles, two triple torpedo tubes and an organic helicopter. The vessel is equipped with a HAZEM combat system, an evolution of Navantia"s CATIZ explicitly made for the Saudi Arabian Navy, which will adopt it as "national" and has also ensured the relevant transfer of know-how.
