President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appointed İhsan Kaya to SSB vice Presidency to assist SSB President Professor Haluk Görgün. TurDef summarises who İhsan Kaya is.
Defence Industry Agency is familiar with academics. Former SSB President İsmail Demir and Vice President Faruk Yiğit were professors. Current President Haluk Görgün also has the Professor title. İhsan Kaya will be the second Professor at the top management. The only difference may be that he is more concentrated academically. His works received more than 4500 citations.
Kaya graduated from Selçuk University, Konya, from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture as the highest-ranking student in the industrial engineering department. He graduated in 2001 as an industrial engineer and started his postgraduate career at the same university between 2001 to 2004, the Institute of Science. His Doctorate from the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences is from Istanbul Technical University between 2005 – 2010.
Kaya is not far from the military world. He was a lecturer at Turkish Military Academy from September 2011 until August 2012.
Kaya has been a professor at Yıldız Technical University since 2018, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Industry Engineering, where he is also the dean of Faculty since September 2021. He works on Industrial Engineering, Linear Programming, Quality and Reliability, Quality Control, Total Quality Management, Multi-Criteria Decision Making, Decision Support Systems, Engineering and Technology. His works on fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making methods for intelligent building assessment received many citations.
Turkish Academy of Sciences (Türkiye Bilimler Akademisi) awarded Kaya in 2019 with TÜBA Outstanding Young Scientist Award (GEBİP).
The Dutch academic publishing company Elsevier, specialising in scientific, technical, and medical content in the global information analytics business, stated that his production rate is among the two per cent in academics.
Kaya is on the board of directors of STM Defence.
