ASELSAN's TOLUN-IIR small diameter bomb (SDB), dropped from an AKINCI UCAV, scored a direct hit on the target vehicle with an IIR seeker.
TOLUN-IIR performed its first announced dropping test from AKINCI UCAV through the SADAK-4T smart bomb rack specifically developed for the TOLUN family of SDBs.
After TOLUN-IIR was dropped and headed to the target 20 km away, an operator took over the guidance through a feed into the ground control station and directed the bomb at the APC target. The direct hit on the target demonstrates the seeker's performance and feeds to the ground control station without ping problems. TOLUN-IIR, developed from the TOLUN that only uses GPS+INS guidance, features an IIR seeker and man-in-the-loop (MITL) capability through the seeker. The seeker has a gimballed configuration, providing a wide field of view and focus on the target under aggressive glide conditions.
TOLUN-IIR's seeker can track static and moving targets such as buildings and vehicles.
The bomb has a range of 80+ km when dropped from fighter jets, but this is shorter when dropped from UCAVs due to kinematic constraints.
