Turkiye’s Share in Arms Exports Double in 2020-2024 Term TurDef

According to SIPRI’s 2024 Yearbook, Turkiye’s share in global arms exports has increased by 103 per cent in the 2020-2024 term compared to the 2015-2019 term.

With the increase, Turkiye’s share increased from 0.8 to 1.7 per cent at the end of 2024. With the new share, Turkiye has ranked 11th on the list in terms of share. Additionally, the exports decreased by 33 per cent.

According to the import figures, Turkiye is among the top three suppliers of Pakistan (third place, 3.8 per cent), UAE (third place, 11 per cent), Bahrain (second place, 1.4 per cent), and Kazakhstan (third place, 1.4 per cent).

Spain’s interest in TUSAŞ Hürjet advanced trainer and Baykar-Leonardo JV might allow Turkiye to take a larger share in the European market in the next four-year term. The recent cracks in the U.S.-Europe ties, due to the Trump administration’s abrasive rhetoric towards European countries in military cooperation, are sure to affect the demographics of arms exports.
