TUSAŞ is getting closer to exporting Hürjet to Europe step by step.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the "Advanced Jet Trainer, Integrated Training System - Combat (ITS-C)" program has been signed between Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ) and Spanish industrial entities headed by Airbus. Signed during the FEINDEF Defence Exhibition in Madrid, the Mou seeks to investigate and create cooperation possibilities to replace the F-5M training aircraft in the Spanish Air and Space Force's fleet.
Specifically the Hürjet, this strategic alliance unites Airbus's design, manufacturing, service support, and training knowledge with TUSAŞ's leading skills in supersonic, single-engine, two-seat jet trainers. The cooperation is intended to improve the ITS-C program, which aims to update the training fleet of the Spanish Air and Space Force.

TUSAŞ and Airbus had previously signed an MoU to start possible industrial collaboration. This most recent MoU strengthens the collaboration between Türkiye and Spain in the military and aerospace industries by extending their previous relationship to include important Spanish industrial companies.
The deal intends to include the Hürjet into Spain's Integrated Training System and enhance the Spanish military industry. Addressing the Spanish Air Force's increasing operational requirements for contemporary training aircraft, the MoU is a strategic move to strengthen defence links between Türkiye and Spain, hence improving local industry capacity.
Using the technical knowledge of both countries, the MoU also foresees reciprocal support in training and maintenance activities. While TUSAŞ adds with its design and production skills, Airbus's participation is anticipated to bring European-wide integration knowledge. This cooperation is expected to open fresh paths for cooperative initiatives, hence strengthening the defence capacities of both countries.
Moreover, the pact is vital in enhancing bilateral defence collaboration, which might result in new initiatives beyond the ITS-C program. The MoU emphasises both sides' dedication to modernising the Spanish Air and Space Force's training infrastructure and upgrading aerospace technology, hence improving interoperability inside NATO structures.
