TUSAŞ CEO Mehmet Demiroğlu provided new information on the AYAZ jet-powered kamikaze UAV in development, underlining low observability characteristics.
During an interview with Harbertürk, Mehmet Demiroğlu discussed the characteristics of TUSAŞ’s jet-powered kamikaze UAV line that includes configurations of ŞİMŞEK and SÜPER ŞİMŞEK as well as the purpose-built AYAZ.
Demiroğlu stated that AYAZ will be smaller than SÜPER ŞİMŞEK and have a range of 200+ km. One important detail is that he added that AYAZ will have low observability against radars, indicating more through design optimisations compared to ŞİMŞEK and SÜPER ŞİMŞEK in that field.
This places AYAZ in a new spot among other kamikaze UAVs being developed by Türkiye.
AYAZ was first spotted in late 2025 on the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office website as a trademark.
