Ukrainian FPV intercepts Russian UAV

Ukrainian FPV intercepts Russian UAV

Ukranian FPV is seen intercepting a Russian UAV in the air during its cruise to its target. Ukraine’s battlefield has witnessed a new development in the clashes between unmanned systems. The unmanned systems were introduced first with TB2 Armed UAVs from the Ukrainian side. Russia introduced Iranian Shahed loitering munition in response. Introducing First Person View (FPV), drones have added new dimensions to the battlefield at the tactical level. They were used to destroy armoured vehicles and personnel on the field as they were armed with bombs or warheads. The use of FPVs has reached a further step by intercepting unmanned ground vehicles. This was the introduction of the next step: clash of unmanned systems. The attack came from the sky to the system on the ground. A recently released video from the Ukrainian front indicates that more will follow this lead: using FPVs against unmanned aerial systems. The video shows a Russian UAV on its intercourse, flying towards the target. The drone, descending from the sky, approaches from the tail side, where there is no sensor, hits the left wing and intercepts the UAV. The video signals that the new episode will start in the sky as FPV or swarm drones will start engaging the bigger armed UAVs. Their explosive payload on board will be sufficient to intercept the opponent’s UAV. This development hints at future developments where airborne drones released from patrol aircraft start intercepting intruder UAVs.
